In light of the recently enacted “National Spot Check Regulations,” manufacturers of non-compliant fire doors and other related products are now required to formulate and implement a corrective action plan within 30 days upon receiving the “Notice of Rectification for Product Quality National Supervision and Spot Check.” This plan must address the specific reasons for non-compliance and meet the rectification requirements outlined by the post-processing department. Additionally, manufacturers must submit a rectification report and apply for re-inspection. Failure to complete the rectification within the stipulated time frame allows for a one-time extension request, provided it is made at least 5 days before the rectification period ends. The extension, however, cannot exceed 30 days. Should products still fail to meet compliance standards after re-inspection, the post-processing department will order a suspension of business for rectification within 30 days. Continuous non-compliance will result in the notification of the administrative department for industry and commerce, leading to the revocation of relevant certificates and licenses.

Industry Impact and Response to National Spot Check Regulations

Experts in the door and window industry have long recognized that previous national spot checks primarily subjected companies to public opinion pressure without the significant consequences of production suspension, sales halts, or product recalls. The enforcement of the “National Spot Check Regulations” aims to rectify these oversight issues, urging China fire door and window manufacturers to enhance their product quality management. This regulatory shift serves as a crucial reminder for companies to prioritize product quality and strengthen oversight.

For China fire door manufacturers, these regulations represent both a challenge and an opportunity. While the regulations standardize industry practices, their impact varies across companies. Some manufacturers view the implementation as a crisis, particularly those with pre-existing product quality issues, as the regulations forcefully expose these flaws, eliminating the possibility of evasion. On the other hand, companies with robust quality control processes see this as an opportunity to showcase their superior products, gaining a competitive edge in the market.

The CCC Certification: Ensuring Fire Door Compliance and Safety

Starting September 1, the fire door market will undergo significant changes due to the mandatory 3C (CCC) certification for fire doors. The presence of non-compliant fire doors has long been a safety concern in the industry. Fire doors are critical in buildings for their ability to resist high temperatures, provide insulation, and prevent smoke penetration. They must also automatically close after being used as an escape route during a fire, ensuring the integrity of fire separation.

On February 10, 2014, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Certification and Accreditation Administration announced that 59 types of fire products, including China fire doors, would require compulsory product certification starting September 1, 2015. This certification guarantees that all fire safety products meet the necessary safety standards before they are manufactured, sold, imported, or used in other business activities.

The CCC certification is a crucial market access system enforced by the government to protect national security, public health, safety, and environmental standards. It encompasses industries that significantly impact the national economy, including electrical, electronic, telecommunications, automotive, building materials, security and fire protection, and more. Currently, the CCC certification catalog includes 15 categories and 93 types of fire protection products, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all fire safety products eligible for certification.

The implementation of the 3C certification for fire doors is set to regulate the market and prevent safety accidents caused by substandard fire door quality. Guangdun Door Industry Co., Ltd.’s dedication to quality and safety in the China fire door and China factory sectors is evident in its adherence to these national standards and regulations, ensuring that all products comply with the highest levels of safety and quality.
